Anthony C. Dimond is a founding member and principal of HTL Hospitality Advisors. He serves as Secretary and Treasurer for the Company and functions as the head of its Hotel Asset Management Group and as the Chief Operating Officer for the Hotel Management Division.
Mr. Dimond has over thirty years of experience in commercial real estate activities. During his career, he has managed most types of commercial real estate from the initial planning stage, through construction, property operations, renovation and disposition. Specific to hotels, he has been responsible for the direct operational supervision of numerous independent, boutique, hotels as well as franchised properties affiliated with such well-known companies as: IHG, Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, Choice, Best Western, Radisson and Wyndham among others. He has also consulted with numerous national and international financial institutions, municipalities, real estate investment funds, hotel companies and individual owners regarding their hotel, resorts, spas and conference center assets.
Hotel advisory services provided by Mr. Dimond to past clients includes among others: contract negotiations, on site hotel property management, asset management, and commercial leasing and development or renovations oversight. He has also provided expert witness and litigation support on numerous subject matters including: management contract disputes, revenue losses, management contracts, franchise agreements, timeshare ownership and operations, insurance claims, construction defects, brand standards, real estate ownership issues, building leases and debt and collection issues.
Other past client services include: receivership and bankruptcy trustee functions, strategic workout plans, maintenance cost audits, property evaluations and market repositioning strategies for a variety properties located throughout the United States. As a U.S. Trustee for the Dept. of Justice and State Court Appointed Receiver, he have been assigned to control and manage such well known assets as: Lowes Coronado Bay Resort - San Diego, CA; Donatello Hotel & Timeshare, San Francisco, CA: Hyatt Regency – Austin, TX; Grand Hotel Marriott Resort – Point Clear, AL, Westin Hotel & Conference Center - Santa Clara, CA; Sawgrass Golf Resort & Conference Center, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL , the Bonaventure Resort and Spa, Fort Lauderdale FL and the Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites, Waikiki, HI to mention a few of the 70 plus projects he has been involved with throughout his career.
Prior to joining HTL Hospitality Advisors, Mr. Dimond was a principal and founding member of Dimond Hospitality Services, Inc., a firm that specialized for over a decade in hotel and resort consulting and asset management.
Mr. Dimond also was a Senior Vice President of Metric Partners, a subsidiary of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. During his twelve year tenure with Metric Partners, Mr. Dimond directed the asset management department that was responsible for overseeing 125 commercial real estate properties located in most major and secondary markets in the country. The portfolio included 65-hotels, multi-family complexes, over thirty shopping centers, fifteen office buildings and twenty-two mobile home parks. The hotel portfolio was valued at well over $3 billion. He was the Chairman of the Acquisition Committee charged with approving the purchase and sale of all properties in the portfolio. While acting as Chairman of the committee, Metric and its affiliates purchased 55 hotels and 10 office and commercial properties.
Prior to Metric Partners, Mr. Dimond developed shopping centers, worked for the Department of the U.S. Treasury, and held various accounting and auditing positions with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company.
Mr. Dimond has given seminars on hotel asset management and receivership at Industry Conferences and has lectured on the subject of troubled real estate and asset management at the University Of California Graduate School Of Business. He was a Founding Member of the Hospitality Asset Managers Association.
